Artificial Intelligence-enabled Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Manufacturing (AIESMA) Summer School

July 8 - August 2

Artificial Intelligence-enabled Innovation & Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Manufacturing (AIESMA) Summer School is an annual programme organised by the EIT Manufacturing together with Fondazione HIT and University of Trento.

This year the programme is structured in three parts, one in an online setting and the other two onsite at the University of Trento:

  • Online | 8-18 July, 2024: Innovative Manufacturing: Harnessing AI and Sustainability for Growth

The EIT Manufacturing AIESMA Summer School kicks off with an online training program that introduces the objectives and industry challenges, emphasizing problem analysis. The course links academia and industry, exploring AI’s role in manufacturing, including trends, applications, and sustainability at enterprise and supply chain levels. Additionally, it covers intellectual property management and ethical AI, featuring case studies from innovation projects. The 18-hour course is held in late afternoon sessions.

  • Onsite Week 1 | 22 – 26 July, 2024: AI & Sustainability in Manufacturing: Problem to Impact Design

The second week of the EIT Manufacturing AIESMA Summer School takes place at the University of Trento and shifts focus from theory to practical learning, centering on problem analysis. Participants engage in interactive workshops, team projects, and expert lectures to enhance their understanding of AI and sustainability in manufacturing. This hands-on approach provides insights into real-world applications and encourages collaboration through networking opportunities with industry experts and peers.

  • Onsite Week 2 | 29 July – 02 Aug, 2024: AI & Sustainability in Manufacturing: Solution Prototyping to Validation

The third week of the programme focuses on refining solutions to analyzed challenges with mentor feedback and improving presentation skills for effective idea pitching. It culminates in final presentations evaluated by industry experts on practicality, innovation, and sustainability. The programme concludes with reflective sessions where participants discuss their learning and future applications, maintaining a strong emphasis on sustainability throughout.

Our coordinator Matteo Saveriano from University of Trento is presenting the INVERSE project during the online session of AIESMA Summer School programme on 18 July 2024.
